The Humphries Fitting Process
Whether you visit us in store or order online with our guidance, this is how we make sure every pair fits properly.
Measure Both Feet
We use a Brannock device to measure length and width on both feet. Children's feet grow unevenly, so both measurements matter.
Assess Foot Shape
Width, arch height, and toe shape all affect which last will work best. We look at the whole foot, not just the number.
Try the Right Fitting
We bring out the correct size and fitting — not just the nearest available. If we do not have your fitting in stock, we will tell you honestly.
Check the Fit
We check for toe room (one thumb's width), heel grip, and width across the ball of the foot before you leave the shop.
Advise on Care
We tell you how to clean and maintain your shoes so they last as long as possible — leather food, polish, and drying advice included.
