Swimsuit Sizing: Adults

MAK Swimwear adult sizes follow standard UK sizing conventions. For women's swimsuits, we recommend measuring your chest (fullest point), waist (narrowest point), and hips (fullest point) and comparing against the size chart on each product page. If your measurements fall between two sizes, size up for comfort during long training sessions.

Men's jammers and briefs are sized by UK waist measurement. Measure around your natural waist (not your trouser waist) and refer to the size chart. Competition briefs are typically worn one size smaller than training jammers for a tighter, lower-drag fit — our product pages note this where relevant.

Performance swimwear is designed to fit more snugly than leisure swimwear. A small amount of initial tightness is normal and will ease slightly after the first few sessions as the fabric adapts to your body shape.

  • Size up if between sizes for training; size down for competition
  • Expect a snug fit — performance suits are not leisure swimwear

Swimsuit Sizing: Juniors

Junior swimsuits in the MAK range are sized by age group (7–8, 9–10, 11–12, 13–14, 15–16). These age ranges are a guide only — children develop at different rates, and a child who swims regularly may have a leaner, more muscular build than the age-group average.

For junior sizing, we recommend measuring chest and height and comparing against the size chart on the Junior Training Swimsuit product page. If your child is between sizes, size up to allow for growth and to ensure the suit is comfortable during longer training sessions. A suit that is too tight will restrict movement and may cause discomfort during drills and turns.

If you are buying a suit for a child who is growing quickly, sizing up by one age group is a sensible approach. The crossback design on our Junior Training Swimsuit accommodates a range of torso lengths without compromising the secure fit needed for competitive training.

Choosing the Right Swim Goggles

Goggle fit depends on face shape, eye socket depth, and nose bridge width. Follow these steps to find your ideal pair.

Press Without the Strap

Hold the goggles against your eyes without putting the strap on. Press gently and release. If they stay in place for a few seconds due to suction, the gasket is the right size for your eye socket.

Check the Nose Bridge

The nose bridge should sit comfortably without pinching. Many of our goggles include interchangeable nose bridges in S, M, and L sizes. If the bridge is too narrow, it will pull the lenses inward and break the seal.

Adjust the Strap

Once you have the right gasket and nose bridge, adjust the strap so the goggles sit firmly without leaving deep pressure marks. The strap should be snug, not tight — over-tightening is a common cause of leaking.

Choose Your Lens Tint

Clear lenses suit indoor pools and low-light conditions. Smoke or dark tints reduce glare in bright outdoor pools. Mirrored lenses are best for open-water swimming in direct sunlight. Amber tints enhance contrast in overcast conditions.

For training swimwear, size up for comfort over long sessions. For competition swimwear, size down for a tighter, lower-drag fit. If you are unsure, contact our team and we will advise based on the specific product.

Leaking is almost always caused by the wrong nose bridge width or an incorrect gasket size, not by strap tension. Try a different nose bridge size first. If the gasket does not create suction when pressed against your eye socket without the strap, the gasket size is wrong for your face shape.

Our Junior Swim Goggles are designed for children aged 4–14. Some smaller-faced adults find them comfortable, but we recommend our Wide-Vision Training Goggles or Anti-Fog Training Goggles for adults, as these offer a wider range of nose bridge adjustments.

Measure around your natural waist — the narrowest point of your torso, typically just above the navel. Do not use your trouser waist measurement, as this is usually lower and will give an inaccurate result.

Competition suits can be used for training, but they are designed for short, high-intensity race use and will wear out faster under daily training conditions. We recommend a dedicated training suit for regular pool sessions and reserving your competition suit for race days.
